Does GSi software collect any information?

Some titles released after 2018 (VB3-II, GS-201mk2, TimeVerb-X) just ping the server from time to time to check whether a new update is available. This operation is done in background only once in a day when the plugin is launched and does not send any information except the product code and current version number, that are needed to identify the product and compare the version number. The request is done via HTTPS (encrypted connection).

Some other titles (currently only VariSpeed) collect some details about the hardware running the software and store it on our server. Data is collected only every once in a long while, not at every session, and at the same time a news feed is shown reporting offers or news about other GSi products.

The data collected and stored on the server includes exclusively the following items:
1. OS name
2. CPU vendor & model, number of cores, speed
3. Memory size
4. Language and region
5. Screen resolution

NO PERSONAL INFORMATION OF ANY KIND IS COLLECTED BY GSi. As a matter of fact, we can't collect personal information and don't even need it.

The text of the EULA (End User License Agreement) informs the user about this data collection. This text can be read both during the installation process, giving the user the ability to opt out and cancel the installation, and also within the software screen, reachable from the contextual menu.

It's worth noting that collecting non-sensitive information is done by every website you visit, every free or paid for App you install on your mobiles, every videogame or other software you install on your computer, it's perfectly legal and legit.

How is the data stored, secured and used?
The data is stored on a private server residing in Italy and is used for statistical purposes only. Despite the data contain only anonymous information, the access is not public and is not shared with any third party.
