Are GSi licenses transferrable? Can I sell my license to somebody else?
Please note: this Q&A article applies to all GSi shareware products except those released after 2018 that use a Challenge/Response activation model. In that case, please refer to the specific licenses and/or to other Q&A articles here within.
=========================================
Currently, GSi licenses are not transferrable. This is one of the few small compromises that indepentent, low-cost, shareware software implies. On the other hand, you can:
- have a free demo version to test before you decide to buy your personal license
- install the same license on multiple computers (as long as these are all yours and you use one at a time)
- you don't need an internet connection to activate the software
- there's no limit on the number of machines onto which the software can be activated
- you don't need to buy a USB dongle
- the license is priced reasonably low
Isn't all that amazing?
Recently, there's been a bit of confusion following a dispute between two major software houses that have been regulated by the EU Grand Court. The truth is that a sentence from a Court is not a law. Laws are made by governments, and we're not aware of any EU or International law that obligates software Companies to allow license transfers.
This may change in the future, and in case it does, you'll be promptly warned. But for now, GSi licenses are not transferrable, thanks for your understanding.
