The App doesn't work or has become unstable after an update on my old device
Why an App May Stop Working on Older Devices
We sometimes hear from customers who notice that, after updating an app on an older phone or tablet, it no longer works as expected—or in some cases, it won’t launch at all. This can be frustrating, and it’s easy to think the issue comes from the app itself. The reality, however, is a bit different.
Apple and Google regularly update the rules that every app on the App Store or Google Play must follow. These rules are designed to improve security, take advantage of new features, and ensure apps run smoothly on the latest devices. As developers, we are required to keep our apps up to date with these standards; otherwise, we are not allowed to publish them at all.
The side effect is that older devices, which may not support the latest operating systems or technologies, gradually lose compatibility. This isn’t because developers choose to “drop support,” but because the platforms themselves set the requirements. In practice, if we want our apps to remain available to everyone else, we have no option but to comply.
We understand how disappointing it can be if your trusted device no longer runs an app you enjoy. Unfortunately, once Apple or Google stops supporting a device or system version, there is very little we can do to keep compatibility alive.
Whenever possible, we recommend keeping your device’s operating system up to date. If that’s no longer an option, upgrading to a newer device may be the only way to continue enjoying the latest version of the app.
